最佳解答:

Colossus of Rhodes The Colossus of Rhodes was a statue of the Greek god Helios, erected in the city of Rhodes on the Greek island of Rhodes . It is one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. Several years after the siege of Rhodes in 292BC, its people started to erect a statue of their sun god, Helios, or the Colossus of Rhodes, to commemorate their heroic resistance. The statue itself was over 30 meters (107 ft) tall, making it one of the tallest statues of the ancient world. It was built with iron tie bars and brass plates as the skin. The interior of the structure, which stood on a 15-meter- (50-foot-) high white marblestand , was then filled with stone blocks.Upper portions were built with the use of a large earthen ramp. During the building, workers would pile mounds of dirt on the sides of the colossus. Upon completion all of the dirt was removed and the colossus was left to stand alone. After twelve years, in 280 BC, the statue was completed. The statue stood for only 56 years until Rhodes was hit by the an earthquake in 226BC, when significant damage was also done to large portions of the city, including the harbor and commercial buildings, which were destroyed. The statue broke at the knees and fell over on to the land. The remains lay on the ground for over 800 years, and even broken, they were so impressive that many traveled to see them. Finally in AD654 the remains were sold to a Jewish trader. Seven Wonders of the Anclent World The Seven Wonders of the World (or the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World) is a well known list of remarkable constructions of classical antiquity. Geographically, the list only covered the sculptural and architectural monuments of the Mediterranean and Middle Eastern regions, Five of them are a celebration of Greek arts and architecture (except the Pyramids of Giza and the Hanging Gardens of Babylon) . Five of them are now located in Middle Eastern/Muslim countries.(except the Statue of Zeus and the Colossus of Rhodes,) 2010-03-02 16:00:35 補充: List of wonders: 1.
